Quick Thoughts on the SD Fiasco
If you haven’t heard by now, Christian lost the World Heavyweight Title to Randy Orton. The Twitterverse exploded with anti-WWE and anti-Orton. The big thing about it was the fact that there is still no real news about it. Virtually nothing. Is Christian hurt? Does he have heat? Just politics? One thing is for sure, if Christian isn’t hurt, he got royally screwed.
If Christian did re-injure his pectoral, which is likely considering some of the spots in ladder match, then this makes the most sense. The WHC has been around since 2002 and has been vacated more times than the WWE Title has in it’s 48 year history. So instead of vacating the belt in the event of another injury, it made the most sense to just give it to the next likely Champion. Smackdown is going to be built around Orton, much like how Raw is built around Cena.
Now, on the other hand, the title may have been taken off Christian for the mere reason of “why not?” Christian was given the title as a sympathy run, much like how Rey Mysterio got his first WHC off the death of Eddie Guerrero. No one expected him to have a long reign, but this is ridiculous. Until you give someone a chance you will never know what they can do. The crowd popped so hard for Christian when he pulled the title down, it was amazing, it was main event. At least give him a chance to shine and to prove he can put butts in the seats.
